The Iconic Parle-G: A Journey Through Time and Taste

PARLE: Trusted Brand for Glucose Biscuits and the World's Largest Dispenser of Smiles 😊

Today, I’m excited to share about a product that has been a favorite of my grandparents, my parents, and of course, mine too. It's a treat beloved by every generation.

Introducing Parle-G! πŸ₯›πŸͺ

Parle-G, made with milk and rich in glucose, is perfect when paired with tea or milk. It's a timeless snack that brings joy to every age group.

Did you know about Parle and its origins? Let's dive into the birth story of Parle:

The Genesis of Parle

Founded by Mohan Lal Dayal, Parle was established to make biscuits affordable for every Indian, especially those who couldn't afford expensive ones. The journey began with a mission to provide tasty candies to underprivileged children. Parle's first product was an orange candy, aimed at delighting kids from all backgrounds.

The brand name 'Parle' comes from the suburb of Vile Parle in Mumbai, where the factory was initially located.

The Biscuit Revolution πŸͺ

Before 1939, biscuits were a luxury not easily accessible to everyone. During the Swadeshi movement, Mohan Lal Dayal envisioned creating an Indian biscuit that everyone could afford. Thus, Parle Gluco was born, a biscuit made with milk and priced low enough to become popular across the country.

From Parle Gluco to Parle-G in 1982

Parle Gluco was rebranded to Parle-G and gained immense popularity, especially with the endorsement by the iconic superhero, Shaktimaan. This was a brilliant marketing strategy that resonated with children and adults alike.

Different Packaging of Parle-G πŸ“¦

To make Parle-G look distinct and easily identifiable, the biscuits were wrapped in yellow wax paper. An illusionary image of a little girl was created by Everest creative Maganlal Daiya in the 1960s and featured on the packaging. This iconic design made Parle-G instantly recognizable and played a significant role in its branding success.

Building a Bond with Consumers πŸ’–

Parle has always understood its consumers well. This insight led to the introduction of salty snacks like Monaco, expanding their product range beyond sweet biscuits.
